Class Line up for Arts & Skills Day 2025
Mr. Turner & Mrs. Turner & Ms. Emily
Get ready for an exciting adventure! We follow a family as they trek through long grass, squelchy mud, a swirling snowstorm, and even, a dark gloomy cave. There are fun sounds to make, actions to copy, and surprises along the way. Join us as we read, create, and do activities based on the bear hunt theme!
Handbells for Beginners (Ages 6-9)
Ms. Rebecca Kim
If you are running out of instruments to play at home, and want to learn something new, this might be just right for you. We will learn the names for notes, match them to some simple handbell music, and end with a song we can play for the parents! You can also try your hand at some Boomwhacker games as a bonus. Join us for some super easy musical fun!
Fun with Ozobots (Ages 6-9)
Ms. Kaida Altena
Step into the world of Ozobots, where art and coding come together! In this session, you’ll design colorful paths and activities that your robot will follow, dance through, and explore. Build mazes, create stories, and discover how your drawings can control a robot. It’s the perfect mix of creativity and tech!
Wondering how to make amazing pop-up cards? This craft combines art, simple engineering, and personalized design. We'll explore how to create different pop-up mechanisms, and students can choose their own themes --- sports, animals, comics, nature, celebrations --- so it appeals to both boys and girls. You'll go home with a creative one-of-a-kind card, and the skills to make many more.
Twist, bend & bloom! Let's make vibrant, long-lasting mini bouquets together. In this fun and relaxing session, you'll learn to twist and shape simple pipe cleaners into beautiful flowers, like roses, daisies and tulips. You'll go home with a unique handmade bouquet that makes a wonderful non-wilting decoration or a thoughtful gift for someone special.
Mrs. Sarah Kelleth
Learn some basic acting techniques, rehearse, and then perform a quick skit in front of a small audience. Participants will receive the script about a week before class so they can memorize lines. Don't worry, it will be short! Sign up soon so that we can choose an appropriate script for the size and ages of the group.
Come and enjoy sketching in the CAJ art room with others. Mr Pousseur can show you some sketching techniques to improve your drawings. Pencils and paper will be provided, but feel free to bring your own sketch book, pencils and drawings if you like. Ideas for sketching will be available, but come with your own ideas too.
